Monday, 9th January 2012. The Great Wall Cup welcomed the first of two guests arriving at Beijing. Mr. Alexi Yovanoff (Euroconnections Travel) – our official UK representative arrived to a warm greeting by our International Marketing director during a chilly Beijing morning. 

 

Mr. Yovanoff’s visit to Beijing was for a special mission: to inspect and gather information about The Great Wall Cup and present it to teams back in the UK. During the week, Mr. Yovanoff visited all hotel accommodations, grass & astro-turf pitches and the cultural sights to give a comprehensive report to teams and school back in the UK.    

 

GWC arranged for Mr. Yovanoff to stay at Holiday Inn Express Mizuyuan, one of the top accommodations for teams during the tournament. Checking into hotel, Mr. Yovanoff commented on how clean and comfortable setting Holiday Inn Express gave him, he told us, “Holiday Inn Express in China are regarded as 4*, they are much more modern and luxury compared to the original Holiday Inn Express you have in USA.”

 

The following day, Mr. Yovanoff was ready to start his inspection. In the Morning he visited the Olympic Sports ground where a majority of GWC matches will be played. Mr. Yovanoff was please with the condition and the curly grass on the astro-turf and thought would prevent serious cuts/bruises during matches. When visiting BB Inn and Jinjiang Inn, Mr. Yovanoff was impressed with the quality and standard of room, “compared to some of the 3* hotels in London, the teams would be very happy to stay here.” 

 

During the afternoons, Mr. Yovanoff was guided around the cultural sites. Walking on The Great Wall and standing in Tiananmen Square, Mr. Yovanoff gave similar comments as many participating teams, “it is a wonderful to be here, (The Great Wall) it is a magnificent achievement of human kind”. 

 

Over the period of the week, The Great Wall Cup Committee and Euroconnections Travel has formed a closer partnership, we would like to thank Mr. Alexi Yovanoff for taking time out visit to Beijing and showing great commitment to The Great Wall Cup tournament. We look forward welcoming our first UK team this summer.
